They should make it 100$ a month so that this thread would be around 50 pages long with the same random whine as now.

If you can't stand the fee, get out of the kitchen. :D

maybe it'll be one of those games that start out with a monthly fee because they think it's going to be the next big hit, but then after a month or two of nobody playing they take away the monthly fee to get people to play

They should make the game itself cost $200 and have it include a headset for any PC users that don't have one yet and a joystick and steering wheel for driving vehicles. It should also come with a top of the line keyboard and mouse, specially designed for intense FPS action.

and they should make an FFA server with intense 10000 player battles

A monthly fee would send me really over the edge for some reasons !! firstly a 15$ fee is 90 on my currency !!! so that's a bit hard to do ... we've heard about the agency game ??? the developers says it's gonna be free with ads and premium items !!! if huxely would be like It'd be very good !!! cuz I'm not paynig 90 per month !!!!!!! never !

If the game is good enough, people will pay a fee for it. Also, if you think about it, 15$ is not much for possibly around the clock entertainment for a whole month.

Yeah I think maybe at the most they might charge like 12 dollars, and to tell you the truth I think that is all I am willing to pay, if it's 15 I don't think I'll end up getting it.

A monthly fee for clean games is ok with me.
I might even consider getting the PC version and cancel xbox live, if the game live to the expectations.

Am I the only one who thinks a monthly fee is a good thing? This isn't like the HL games where you only need to suport 20-30 people. I can't imagine MMO servers being cheap, and with the amount of servers they're going to need for this game to support as many people as I hope it will, it's going to take one shiny ass penny to keep things moving along.

Also, with money consistantly comming in, Webzen will have have to keep up with the debugs and little add-ons to make the game even more kick ass as time goes on.

Besides, if they will have in-game ads, the fee should't be more than $10-15, which is a bargain as far as I'm concerned, considering basic cable or sat costs around $40-50 (correct me if I'm wrong) and you don't even know if anything good is going to be on.

Looking forward to playing with you guys.

I wouldn't be too distraught if there was a monthly fee. I just don't think you NEED monthly fee to keep a good game running. I mean don't other FPS games have servers running and not charge a monthly fee? granted an MMO is much different and there will be more servers and all that, which is why I can understand a monthly fee.

Then again there are MMOs that are free. And yeah sure usually these games aren't very good (some are some aren't, whatever it's all opinion lol), but they aren't lame because the servers are bad. They're lame because not enough people play them, or not enough people feel like it's a good enough game to pay $15 a month to play it.

So if enough people play, and if it's an amazing game like we all hope, then sure go ahead and go with a monthly fee. As of now though, Huxley isn't all that big (in the US anyway). not many people know about it, I basically told all my friends about it, none of them had ever heard of it.

Of course the game is still a ways away so I'm not worried (yet) about people finding out about it.

I guess that doesn't really tell you anything hahaha.

Basically...I don't want there to be a fee, but if the game is good enough, and having a fee keeps it on track and up to date, then I'll be happy to pay it.

Grind: You can't compare FPS- to MMO-servers. Usually FPS-servers are hosted by players, communities and companies, not by the developer. So besides the actual costs of buying a lot of high performance servers you have to include bandwidth, power usage, running operations costs etc etc.

That's why I said MMOs are different and that I would understand there being a monthly fee :D

but yeah most of the servers are run and payed for by players/clans etc.

Maybe Huxley can have certain battlefields payed for by clans!

Correct me if i'm wrong but I assume that with each battlefield being instanced, each battlefield is on it's own server. So maybe a clan could pay for that certain server and get to put a picture of their clan up in the battlefield or something lol.

I really don't know much about servers at all so I'm just throwing stuff out there.

are people just freakin idiots or complete noobs to online gaming?

Yes in MMO 90% of the time their are MONTHLY FEE's....

This is used for many things.....(e.x to update servers, developement, etc...)

I DO NOT EXPECT HUXLEY TO BE ANY DIFFRENT

An idea, but I doubt a clan would pay between 100$-1000$ to have their logo in-game for a month. Then again, I doubt that would actually pay the server costs.

I posted this a while ago, and it's probably outdated, but a UT2004 server for 16-32 players costs between 40$ to 100$ per month. Imagine 200 players?

That being said, I don't think Webzen has neither the infrastructure nor the budget to completely remove the idea of any sort of monthly profit.

Yeah you're probably right. Like I said, I don't really know anything about servers so I thought I'd just throw it out there.

Maybe clans could just pay a little bit of money every month and their picture/logo/whatever could be put up. And multiple clans could have their picture put up in different parts of the battlefield.

I'm not saying this would cover the entire cost of the server but maybe a little of it, and if enough clans do it maybe our monthly fee could go down a bit.

Again I don't really know what I'm talking about so I'm just throwing stuff out there for discussion.

And yeah I'm pretty sure most of us have come to terms with the fact that Huxley will probably have a monthly fee.

But still, there are MMOs that are not only free to download, but free to play. Especially those MMOs that started out as pay to play but then flopped.

Take Archlord for example. When the game released you had to not only buy the game but also pay monthly to play. Now it's a free download and there's no monthly fee. So there are ways to run MMOs without monthly fees, they just usually aren't very good, and of course we all want Huxley to be awesome and to be kept up to date. Which is why I'd expect (and be willing to pay) a monthly fee.

An interesting idea for clans would be advertising their clan or guild in the city.

Imagine people paying a few dollars for an advertisement on a bill board. "Join (blank)! Where our PvP record is second to none!"

That would be a small,- entertaining- , way to get a few bits of cash.
