This is why most people who have played other FPS games for years don't like Halo; it's essentially a boiled-down version of the genre that was made to be easy to play on consoles.
I like Halo, and I played UT and UT2K3 way before Halo. I also played CS before Halo. To me it's just a different play style. It is much slower, and takes less skill, but I still think it's fun.

I was really looking forward to this game until I saw the video clips/trailers.

The artwork has this great feel, like the game was going to have some depth to it. It really looked like it was going to be special. And then I saw the trailers and seeing nonstop shooting and straffing with wild weapons flashing. Well, it looks like a bigger version of Quake or UT when it could have been something like Planetside but with more depth and and a much better objective system.

It amazes me that these companies can't see more to do with a couple thousand players online then to rehash old games and just give them a bigger map to play on.

I am sorry, but that's all those film clips showed me and I wanted to come here and tell someone. I looked for an official website and couldn't find one so I found the next best thing right here.

I'll look back in from time to time and see if it might get better, but as it is all I have left to hope for in the future is Warhammer 40K Online which is still another year or so away at the very best. Maybe they can get it right cause it doesn't look like these guys will.

Umm these are TRAILERS... they are supposed to show action and intensity since they are trying to cater to the FPS genre. Good job on taking trailers too seriously. Don't judge a book by it's cover and whatnot.

Zeeker, I called it a trailer, hell the trailers look fantastic. What I am actually talking about is gameplay footage and from what I have seen the game is about as appealing as a 60 year old fat ukranian goat farmer's wife.

All that I saw was the same old FPS quake genre run fast, shoot fast, try and get more kills then the other guys style of gameplay.

Planetside offered Armored warfare, Air Combat, Close Air Support and Bombing, reconnaisance, Infantry Assaults, Anti-Aircraft and Combat Engineering. 4-Wheelers, Buggies, Tanks, Hovercraft, Planes, Air Transports for Airborne Assaults, man the list goes on for a long time. Several clans/Outfits would get together and plan campaigns as much as a week in advance and seeing 500+ players form up with all their vehicles prior to a Raid and then seeing them all roll out together was inspiring. Flying inside a dropship with 15 guys inside while you look out and see four more just like it escorted by fighters, and below you is a road with a line of thirty tanks and armored personel carriers, buggies and support vehicles, well that's a MMOFPS.

Sounds like you want Planetside with better graphics.

They've said since day 1 the kind of gameplay style they were modeling this game after, if you came in with other expectations, it's not their fault.

Look at BF2142 or ET:QW.

You do know there is more then plain jane DM, right?

DM

TDM

Capture the artifact - pieces for a giant mech..it's a race to finish it and when u get killed the enemy has a chance to recover the piece of mech u dropped and you have to get it over again.

Radar domination - have to get, and hold a radar at all costs

PVE

PVP

Crafting

100 vs 100 battles

64 vs 64 battles

tiny squad of 4 (clan) fights to do quests or raise your clans reputation i believe.

try and improve your vehicle handeling.

Ability to fly as you saw in the trailer.

Customization

2 big towns you start in, but can only visit 1 as you are that race...and there are 8 mini towns outside you can explore. I'm not sure about this and maybe someone can clarify but you can have housing in huxley? i thought i heard about this in articles. Maybe have an EQ2 approach where you can buy things for your house and stick them inside or buy a clan house and decorate it to your clans specifications.

I completly agrre with you, console games cant stand up the control that pc gamers can have. And that is why pc games will pwn console gamers in any game that is not a hack n' slash or sports game

Thank you 1 shot. DevNull when you were discussing your beliefs in Huxley you based them on the trailer. Read your own words...

You did not base your conclusion on any substantial evidence or facts. You have an opinion that you are entitled to, but if you're not going to bring up any facts and just bash the game, then go somewhere else.
