Default E3: Most Anticipated Games of 2006/07

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLc6dTMLwUA

I just found this movie on youtube which is the most anticipated games from E3 2K6, huxley stuff starts at about 6 minutes in. This movie confirms cross platform and that the Xbox 360 version is going to com out an entire 6 months after the PC version.

I've seen this video before, although I don't know if it was something posted on this forum already or not...

That interview does specifically say that consoles and pc gamers will be able to play "with and against each other". I still wonder if they're just planning that, or if Microsoft has actually bought into the idea as well.

Hopefully they'll start releasing more updated info sometime soon... it's hard to discuss stuff based on interviews that happened a year ago ;\

since they are releasing it for 360, I wonder if it'll cause additional fees to go along with thier normal Xbox live charges, or if there'll even be monthly charges for PC version. It'd be messed up though if Xbox players only have to pay thier normal Xbox live fee while PC users are shafted with a $15 per month fee

inter-platform networking has been done before though I think, for FFXI I think it was? or did they have separate servers for the two platforms?

The biggest obstacles to full-cross platform play on Huxley would be 1. gameplay balance and 2. business issues.

To be honest, Huxley would be a totally closed game (meaning there's no unofficial modifications to download, unlike many other games), so Microsoft wouldn't have to worry about giving access to their network. So unless there's some unforeseen business complications, as long as Webzen feels they can make the gameplay balanced with each control scheme, there's no real reason why cross-platform shouldn't be perfectly plausible.

The thing is, in interviews they've also said that console players will have a totally different city that they live in, right? If console and pc players will essentially be allowed to do the exact same things, I don't get why that would be necessary.

probably because cities are where alot players will hang out and trade and stuff, and thus alot of communication between players, and I can imagine alot of PC-gamers preferring to use keyboard (such as me) while alot of the Xbox people will want to use thier headset... if that is the reason why, I can imagine the Xbox cities being noisy with constant chatter from other peoples' voice chat... and thus, shudder at the thought of being in one of the Xbox cities
