Judging by the screenshots of this game and the fact that it will be running on the very new Unreal 3 engine, yes, you will need a powerful machine to run it.
Having said that, the Unreal engines have had a history of being very backwards-compatible, so if you have a system antiquated by only one or two years, you should still be fine.

By the time this game comes out you'll be able to upgrade for it for less than it had cost to get a X360 system together. Especially when you consider that you can tweak the graphics on PC. People usually overshoot PC upgrades so that they wont have to worry about them for awhile in the future, but that's the choice of the individual, and that's what PC hardware companies count on for higher profits (since there's always a premium for newer stuff). I'll be building a system next spring basically to run the U3 engine as cheaply and efficiently as possible; I have plenty of money saved up but it'll be interesting to see how low I can keep the cost. Since Huxley won't even be out for quite some time beyond that, I would think it would be even cheaper if I were waiting for just this game.
The first unreal 3 engine PC game has been released recently. Roboblitz (previously shown as the Intel-only Robohorde tech demo) has a demo you can download off of Steam currently. I haven't found it anywhere else for DL yet. It's mostly a physics based game so it's not a great benchmark to compare to other future U3 games, but it'll at least let people get a feel for how their current hardware handles the engine in general. My comp is pretty old so when it is released I will have a new computer for sure. I just hope that to prevent mass fps drops you will be able to turn down graphics alot to get a more "fps" feeling. Or maybe even different settings for if you are out fighting or in town.

Yes, I know, this is an older thread, but I think I got a rough guess at what you'll need to run Huxley.
Since it runs on Unreal 3 engine, and Roboblitz is created with the Unreal 3 engine, just go to their website and check the min/recommended requirements (or you could download the demo and see for yourself). Also, check out the requirements for Rainbow Six: Vegas, cause it's also on the Unreal 3 engine. |

Consoles aren't physically capable of reaching the highest specs that PC's can.
I don't go for fanboyism in either direction, because there's advantages and disadvantages to playing games on console and pc, but that's one area where consoles can't compete. Textures will be lower res, overall picture will be lower res. Consoles have hardware limitations that PC's will eventually surpass even with regards to performance/dollar... that's just how it is. The advantage that consoles have is that games are specifically optimized to run at playable framerates on those machines. This means you know you will always be able to play a game released for it, with the tradeoff that you can't generally tweak the settings to your preference in order to decide what YOU consider "playable" framerate. It also often means that graphics must be toned down for console versions (Epic has already spoken of having to redesign UT3 maps from PC -> Xbox360 since the system memory available is lower, so the textures must be smaller). Also consider that you can't always assume that everyone has to upgrade for a new game, because many PC owners will already have hardware capable of playing Huxley. So it's really not costing those guys anything more than the purchase price (and subscription, etc) of the game. |

Why would the PC verision have more weapons and upgrades than the Xbox ver? Highly doubtable. The thing that differs is the grapichs and gameplay. |

itll still play as it will be optimised to do so...but imo itll just be lacking that something...Anti Alliasing for instance As for specs, id imagine C2Ds, 2gb+ RAM, cards beyond the 8800 and R600 to play at high specs id assume any dual core cpu, 2gb ram, x1900/ nv7900 to run at avg settings for something on the unreal 3 engine (basically dx9 cards for OK settings, dx10 cards for the higher ones, this however is all speculation and cant be judged until a full unreal 3 engined game comes out) |
