This probly has been brought up before but does any one know if guilds are gonna be able to fight and have wars would be sweet, it would also add more fun to the game cause a clan could say hire some body as a merc to kill members of the other clan or protect their own members, (so u could have alot of fun backstabbing because the mercs wouldent declare that they were working for the other clan so all the clan that was being attacked would know is that another clan wants them dead)

I wouldn't imagine the point of Webzen putting clans in if you couldn't fight other clans, and on the point of mercenaries, they would be kind of pointless becuase if they did go and backstab someone, etc., the "backstabee" would just respawn...

In the defense of us Mercenaries/Commandos/Bounty Hunters...what have you, there is a point to us, were hired guns, we strive to be the best equipped, best trained, and overall, just plain kickass. What better way to get at your most hated enemy than radioing in a mercenary, him setting his price, and having him come own along side you. Nothing against ya shadow, good guy and all, but I really do hope that there is an aspect such as this for people like us.

lol. yes that would be cool.. and even if they made a class of Hitman where there was a specific stealth armor that the hitman could use to stealth up on the enemy say one target and kill him in a alley way in there own city
Or, wait what if as a sniper you could go across the plains of destruction and hunt a fo down then once at the fo say he be in his factions city you could travel through and get into a building. then with a but set up a recon and watch that person and what he's doing and then when he gets alone BOOM!!! kill him and then sneak away unscathed. that would amazing. |

@ Savage well the merc could go spawn camp for a little while this would be annoying :P it would be annoying for the other clan or if clans could get bases (which would be sweet) maybe the merc would raid it during a meeting or somthing just to annoy them. I personally thing mercs would be sweet and once the game is out i might try to start a clan (if they have them) of mercs that can be hired out

You both make interesting points in this thread. I believe that there will be an aspect for us in Huxley, like there is in any game, but this is different, this is our source. I believe that we will be able to do what we do best, and own enemies for the highest bidder. We bring something fun to the table for anyone and everyone that can meet the price. I don't take sides...they pay me

Speaking of "What if's", I think it would be awesome if they had an RTS element to it like BF:2 MC for the PC does. Not the creation of units and management of resources, etc. mind you, but along the lines of troop movements and what not. If you had an overhead view of the map and could designate different groups of soldiers and then set rally points for them, etc., that would be kick ass.

Not necissarily. Tribes 2 had a system where you could set objectives and give orders to people. From repairing bases to attacking things etc. It's been a while since I played that game (One of the best FPSs for sheer versatility of gameplay) so I don't remember the specifics of the system.
Having a single person, or a few, directing the battles wouldn't be beyond reason, and it seems plausible with the ranking system for experience in Huxley.

If you're in an organized team with people, you're going to be on voice chat anyways...
As far as things like affecting visual goal points or whatever that might show up on screen or on a map, that ranking system could come into play, but ultimately at most someone will be able to give "suggestions", because it's not like everyone is going to be forced to follow 1 random person just because he has a higher rank. I wouldn't expect there to be anything nearly as involved as the BF2 system, personally. I think it would make much more sense to just let Team leaders affect these things for people within their teams, i.e. if I start a team and 3 of my friends join and I move leadership over to 1, he can use some kind of bind or whatever to mark a certain vehicle and everyone in the team will see a target icon on it or something. Something like that (ya it sounds a lot like WOW's raid targeting system I guess) would be simple and efficient, and might actually be useful to cut down on voice chat spam even within teams. And you know, we really don't have any clue how the guild/clan/etc system will work. For all we know you might not be able to just join and quit them constantly. But like I've mentioned before I don't see the utility of hiring mercenaries anyways... seems like if you have 10 people who are good enough to get hired by other groups to help in certain fights, they'd be better off playing together as 1 big team and taking all the spoils for themselves. |
