This is probebly a stupid question yet again . BUt what will the deal with laggers be ? . I play far cray heaps and it lags like a bitch . But i take it casue you pay to play for this they will have really good servers, so no lagging ??

Since it's an FPS, they'll most likely design the dataflow so that the lagger suffers, not the rest of the people. Meaning just becase a person is lagging doesn't mean that the rest of the server can't hit him. If he's lagging, it'll probably be that he'll be standing in a single spot doing nothing until he catches up with the server, making him easy meat for a monkey with a rock.

I think if your lagging as guyrobinson said its most likely you internet or there is going to be a server crash but I would hope unlike wow they actually fix there problems. And if your lagging you will probably just disconnect.

cheers yeh i dont think ill have a problem then as it will be run on proper servers. Only reason i sometimes lag on farcry is the user hosts are soo shit most the time . Also think im upgrading to 8mb soon aposed to 2mb so shud be better

I have one of the best Gaming Rig and I spend atlest $600 every 6months to keep it up todate and I expect to fully enjoy my games , Sinple player as well as Multiplayer.
I really sux when 2 out of 6 people in any Match have really shitty PC and everyone suffers. Something must be done to keep the Lag away from this Game. BOW TO HUXLEY and Quake Wars |

in most MMOs i've played if you are lagging, it more or less freezes your character making you an easy target or you just continue to do your last motion (i.e. move sraight) as opposed to several FPSs where if you lag the server keeps track of you but your character apprears to not move and suddenly you pop up behind your enemy....
lol i don't think that made any sense. at least i know what i'm trying to say even if you dont :D |

I believe there is actaully a setting in CS that allows the server admin to throttle use of his connection. This will either make everyone lag a little, or make laggers lag a lot, and others not lag. Cant really remember, was a few years ago.

They're called rates, and it effects your client since it's a client setting. Server settings are seperate and there's very little point in restricting what your server can do since it screws up everybody without prejudice. Including the owner. There are a few different ones, the basic one is just "rate" which effects the packet rate max that can be sent.

These are all client side. Used for optomization mostly, usually the majority of players know nothing about them. Used to be a big problem in leagues where poeple would totally screw with their rates making it seem laggy on the enemie's end and they teleport, but be perfectly playable on the clients end. That's why they started implementing script .cfgs (At least in HL mods) that would force set rates at the beginning and check at different times throughout to see if they're being changed.
