after reading most of the posts made in this topic i disagree with most of the guys here.

Almost everyone compares UT and CS !Public! gameplay style with the way Huxley could/should be, but i think you should compare both !Clanwars! gameplay styles. After playing planetside for some time ( not so long tho ) i can conclude that both factions will work together and will be more a team than teams are in a regular fps like UT2k4. in UT2k4 people just go out to make some frags, so it will always turn into one fragfest spamming as much as you want.

I think Webzen wanna turn this game into a fast-paced game like UT2k4 to keep the game exciting and not so boring, while they also want this game to not turn into a fragfest. This won't happen cause people would like to win battles rather than just rush in and spam some rockets. the MMO part of the game will make sure that won't happen. People don't like to die and respawn just to have to walk another 3 mins or so to get back to the battlefield, so people play more carefull and try to use back-up.

Also the ability to form groups and clans and communicate with em in-game through mics will make sure people will play in team-style rather than by solo. Team-style will be (i hope and think) the way to go to succeed in this game.

Also the different classes will make sure not everyone can dominate on its own, so people will need help from different classes to succeed ---> which results in a team-play based style.

If you play UT in wars you will see its not just a fragfest of rocket spamming, but people will give back up to eachother. i think the MMO part of the game will make sure that way of playing will be the way to go in Huxley too.

:]

You're making quite a few assumptions and drawing conclusions without basis in that post. First you say that Huxley will involve alot more teamplay and less straight fragging like you find in normal DM. Unfortunately that's based off nothing, only the fact that it is going to be an MMO. In planetside we saw how easily the game devolved into zergfests where most people played for themselves and not with the rest of their faction.

Next you talk about people not wanting to play this game for frags and instead win battles. First we don't even know the objectives of the battles, whether they CAN be won or lost and if they will be ending. So there is little reason to assume people won't be going for frags and straight killing when they partake in the PvP aspect of this game. Furthermore you base your assumptions on the fact that since the game is an MMO these things have to happen. Next you're making the assumption that it will take players a long time to reach the battle again, contrary to what the devs have said about fast respawning and getting the player back into the fighting quickly.

Mics and teams have never had a definite effect on making people play as a team, Huxley is no different. It makes it easier yes, but it does not force people into teamwork in the slightest.

Granted I think Huxley will do very well as a team game, however not for these baseless reasons.

If you dont believe me, download Red Orchestra (Which also runs on the Unreal engine but plays like Day Of Defeat : Source and Call Of Duty 2)

Counter-Strike:Source doesnt involve alot of jumping around for those of you who do not have it. It is created for realism, so the elements of the gameplay are more strict during movement/combat. Unreal is more of like a jump around and try to hit your target with Spray and Pray.

Well anyway, info?
...cs:s aint a tactical game... if your gonna describe a tactical game use AA or bf2

There can be tactics with this as well, The main thing that makes tactics important is the HP/Damage ratio. The faster you die, the more tactics involved. I too would prefer more of the solower die fast combat, but there are many other benifits Huxley will probably offer that will outweight this one drawback.

I just realized, when you ignore someone on this new(ish) forum layout, it doesn't even show that they posted at all.

That's pretty handy, none of this "this person posted but you can't see it unless you press this button" stuff.
