Forum ranking! ^^

Well i thought of one thing, you know in games like BF2 or BF2142 or other games where you have ranks and other features? Many players plays to get the rank and those features for the rank cause it's fun for them.
So i thought... Maybe you can do same on forum? I mean you have 3 ranks for normal users, Junior member - Member- Senior member. So maybe add more ranks depends on how many posts you have and different fun feature for them so people will keep the community active and enjoy being ranked up =)
Some people like it and might particapate in discussions just for that.

Well anyhow thats mine idea lets see if you like it or not :P

Well yeah i do agree that, that can happent and most likely will. Many people don't have much to say so they just simply post: Yes - no - cool. But currently, not many people are posting, most of them are reading. I don't know what Gobbly wants but i think that the forum ranking will be cool, people who want to get lots of posts on their count still do lots of one-liners no matter of what the forum has. But that probably will lead to what you say it will lead to.

I just hope admin replaies what he thinks of it.

I would advise against this, no matter if it would "stimulate" forum participation or not.

I've been in other forums with similar concepts...

You had to have over 100 posts to be able to view content in a section of the forums, so people would just post trivial responses in EVERY SINGLE THREAD in order to achieve 100 posts.

What we have now works. It shouldn't matter if someone just reads threads instead of posting in them.

Maybe they have nothing to add to the thread? I know I did the same thing until I decided I had something to add on several different topics being discussed.

It also helps with the type of members registering on the forums as well. They people who go through the process usually do it so they can provide input on a current topic.

Rarely will people go through registering just to say "Yeah, I agree."

1. No really bad idea, we (moderators) will have to merge and edit TONS of posts because of the double posting that would be caused by this feature.

2. If you read the rules then its against the rules to post "I agree"(one liners) etc

3. One should only post if you have anything special to add to the thread... I only write a respons if someone; quote me, if i have something to add or if im moderating the thread. Tbh, there's really no need for three people to say "bla bla bla" if someone has already posted it.... right? Who likes to read a thread filled with the same information?
