I love this forum. I come here to discuss and debate possible Huxley ideas and developments. What I don't love is the flamming that takes place here. It is in several topics and it has the possibility to escalate to spreading throughout these forums. I propose some debate rules and codes of conduct so we don't risk the chance this forum being destroyed by flaming. Here are some sample rules for the forum seeing as there are none.
1. This forum is an English-language forum. This means that you should use recognizable English. It also means that you shouldn't use hacker dialect (aka "l33t-speak"). Small amounts are acceptable to an extent. 2. No clogging up the forums with *Censored Word* so much. If you feel strongly about something put it in words, swearing just makes you look dumber and less intelligent. 3.The "me too" rule. Do not post in threads simply to add some kind of vacuous one-liner. If you're going to post in a thread (particularly a serious discussion thread), you should put some effort into your post. 4. Posts are to be made in the relevant forum. 5. Do not post in an old, inactive thread unless you have something genuinely new and interesting to add to it. This is known as thread necromancy. 6. If you intend to discuss a topic use the search function instead of posting about things we might have already discussed. Debate Rules 7. Do not "hijack" threads by trying to change the subject in mid-stream. We are aware that a discussion may meander into different tangents and even different subjects without any conscious effort to make it do so. 8. The "vendetta" rule: pursuant to the hijacking rule, do not "follow someone around" because you dislike him, hijacking threads in which he participates in order to carry on your feud with him. This particular form of hijacking is considered the least acceptable of all hijacking offenses. 9. Pursuant to the previous rule, do not start threads solely for the purpose of criticizing an individual member of the board. 10. Do not employ the "broken record" debating style. 11. If you are asked for evidence to support a claim you've made, you should either produce this evidence or concede the point until such time as you can produce this evidence. People who consistently ignore requests for evidence to support their claims (particularly contentious claims) are not looked upon kindly. If we can do something to stop such annoyances as this or this it would really make this forum a better place. What does everyone else think?

i think murvel should post some official rules on the announcements board.
we have enough members to begin needing it one in particular especially on a forum u want to keep 'g' rated 12. Do not circumvent the chat filter. eg. 'ex.pletive' on a paintball forum i used to mod for we gave a warning, a 1 week ban, then a permaban |

The 2 links no longer work as I have removed them.
Myself along with the others behind this site are going to discuss some rules now. The reason we have been so lenient and laidback towards alot of people is because the game has been so far from release but as it draws closer then we need to tighten up soilders. This community is officialy number one for Huxley and lets keep it that way, I will be putting up a rules board soon. Thanks for your comments and sorry you guys have had to feel this way before things got cleared up. |

Zeek, you are an awsome rulemaker. I love this forum too, and I love to make this place something that all people, all ages, can come, and discuss their ideas(to some extent). I think that the *Censored Word* thing is a code that makes it so when someone says a "bad word", it does 5 *Censored Words*. I fuess their trying to make it so annoying, people won't do it anymore, but what it's doing it annoying us. And here's some punishments for if someone breaks the rules.
Referrals Punishment 1. warning 2. Loss of Privileges(such as loss of avatar and sig priviliges) 3. 1 month ban(1 week ain't enough) 4. Permanent Ban |

Waiting on gobbly for rule and punishment update, most likely punishments will be a general guideline and we will use a case by case basis where moderators have their say and gobbly has final say. We'll just have to wait and see though and I'll pester gobbly to get that finished.
Edit: Rules are being debated as we speak, update as soon as we get rules finalized. After the rules are done we will work on punishment systems for rule breakers. I am hoping for a case by case basis.

I would kind of hope that gobbly and the rest of the moderators would remain leaniant...I have been on other forums and the rules are so strict you can't even really have an opinion. I have just joined this forum and I like the sense of freedom and I don't want that to change as soon as i get here :(

Rules have been added a while ago, we, the forum staff are ok with dissenting opinions if you don't talk in leet speek, and if you are in a serious discussion, base outrageous claims on fact. Otherwise welcome and don't get me mad
