Maybe not a WoW-style MMORPG, but I think some kind of MMOtacticalFPS with large-scale strategic battles sounds like a cool idea for the franchise. Personally, a Starcraft-based RPG sounds like a horrible idea. I just can't see someone playing as a persistent hydralisk going on adventures. "Yes! Claw proficiency is 150! I'm almost at level 30 and then i'll be able to transform into a lurker!"

I can definititely see a persistant war though, maybe taking place on several different worlds, where territories can change ownership. Players wouldn't necessarily have to play as persistant characters, but could gain access to the use of different types of units and commander positions as they get more experience. Players characters wouldn't be persistent but territory status, resource allocation, etc. would be. It would be kind of like Battlefield 2 but maps are persistent and every time you play you are actually affecting your faction's position in the overall universe somehow. Sounds fun to me!
