Lets look at the aircraft in planetside...
and totally take this as a model of what the aircraft SHOULD NOT BE LIKE in this game.
Even in the post apocalyptic world, there needs to be some sort of flaw in technology, especially vehicles.
- There will have to be limitations to control.. speed.. acceleration.. breaking.. and other manuverability related variables.
- Depending on how the weapons and ammunition systems work, there should be a limitation to the firepower of a craft depending on how quick/slow it is, and what purpose it will play (as has been mentioned above).
- Realism is good and all, but honestly... the real world is not balanced! As with all games, balance will have to come over realism.. and aircraft should be no exception.
- The Environment should limit the boundaries of which aircraft can fly to a point that is fair to both the users and the non users. In other words.. some flyboy should not be able to scream out of a tunnel... rip an APC apart, and then be able to escape as it zips away topseed through another aircraft-friendly tunnel. You get the idea.
- The use of Aircraft should require JUST as much skill to use (if not more) than other elements than the game. This element needs to be balanced.
Or o'course, we could just not have aircraft! :P Though I really do want em.
