How about that Lunarites stuff?
Can't you make up a story how it's gotten inside everything including living creatures.
And now, when someone dies, you can 'teleport' him back to life.
Because you made a 'snapshot' of his body, or to be exact, the signature generated by the lunarites in the host's body.
You generate a field that draws in all the lunarites to their original position and state, and thus reassembling the person.
Or send faction repair probes to the position of the dead player.
That way, you can add an extra tactic of attacking repair probes to keep the enemies numbers down, longer. (exploitable, I know :? )
And then you have clones and neural-copies.
The player just discards his corpse.
