Theres quite a significant difference if the assumption is correct that this game is driven by the latest UT3 engine. The core 2 Duo is actually the better chip due to the quad core config and the ability to support 1033 fsb. The Q6700 is the better chip
That engine takes advantage of dual core systems and is made specifically to work with Nvidia's SLI stuff.
With the Q6700, you will have a very long shelf life. If you don't like it running at 2.66, go and get a bad ass air cooler and overclock the cpu to 3.6.
Those line of chips are ridiculously easy to overclock. You can get it stable at 3.6 EASILY as long as you tweak the voltage settings correctly. I have my Q6600 running stable at 3.6ghz on air (cpu comes stock at 2.4) The temps and voltages are also very much in the safe zone so you don't have to worry about shortening life of your cpu. It also won't break your cpu warranty since the voltages are not higher than what intel recommends. No need for water cooling unless you want 3.7+
