Re: Old school Planetside fan
I don't know if you guys realize, but there is a huge community out there that loves fast paced shooters. The Unreal Tournament series is huge and even Quake is still popular. So yeah lots of people used to play planet side and yeah it was fun, but honestly we don't know enough about how Huxley will work to say that PS will always be a better game 100%.
yeah sure maybe the biggest battles you'll see will only be 100 vs 100, but more doesn't always mean better. Webzen did tests with higher and lower numbers and found that 100 vs 100 works the best and is the most fun.
We have no information as to whether continents will be able to be captured or not (however there are screenshots of a map showing different continents or at least countries/territories --http://huxley-evolved.com/huxley/screenshots/?g2_itemId=802--), but we do know that places on battlefields can be captured and that when these places are captured, there are affects on both enemy and friendly cities (it has been described as "the standard of living goes down or up" or something like that, as well as the possibility of power going out in portions of a city).
Also, we really don't know how big the battlefields are going to be, so saying that they're going to be bigger or smaller than planetside is impossible to know. The only info we have on that is that the capital cities are gigantic and the battlefields are also super big. Which obviously doesn't tell us anything except that I guess we can assume they won't be like CS maps or something.
And with lag, it all kind of depends. just because there are 200 in a battle, they aren't necessarily all blasting away at each other in the same area, so that will help with lag. Also WoWs servers were completely horrible when the game came out and it's not too bad anymore (unless there's something I don't know about lol).
SO, to summarize...Yeah Huxley isn't Planetside and it's not trying to be. We don't know enough about Huxley to say it's going to be a god, or to say it's going to live in the shadow of what PS used to be. We can just hope for the best and learn about it as info gets released. In the end we're all just going to have to give the game a chance to see if we really like what they've done with it.
sorry to all you planetside fans who were hoping Huxley was going to be a PS clone with better graphics to bring back the glory days. It's just not going to happen.
