Re: Huxley Gamespeed Too Fast?
What you're saying isn't wrong Roland, like you said some of these things are linked. However Twitch games are notorious for being fast paced games and adding major recoil and other "reality" factors usually aren't a part of those types of games because they don't match.
If people are allowed to dodge a lot by jumping, strafing or no quick deaths, the game are always either recoil-less or have a very minimal amount of recoil. One counterbalances the other.
Personally I like both twitch games (UT series, Quake, etc...) and slower shooters (DoD, CS) but I don't believe that one type has more stretegy involved then the other, one type might look more strategic but if you look at things a lot closer you'll see it's just a different form of strategy.
Anybody can play UT without tactics on a public server, but you can do the same thing in non twitch games. As long as you aren't confronted with strategy you don't need to use it. This is exactly the way these games were meant to be, seeing as some people just want to play the occasional game to have a little bit of fun and not spent their time strategising every little move they make. On the other hand the games still allow you to strategise so the people who want to spent time thinking their moves still get something out of it.
Huxley will have 12 classcombinations, each with their own playstyle due to the skills and the types of guns, now add BGs that will have multiple objectives. If you're playing a random BG with little to no stategy, just going around blasting enemies, you'll still be able to win, but if you want, you can use strategy by making squads and giving orders (albeit this might be hard in a random BG since people tend to get all pissy when you try to organize everything) and thus add to your winning chances.
Webzen knows what they are doing, if they said "we want Huxley to be fastpaced" it will be fastpaced but you can bet they'll try hard to allow a strategy factor in the game. It might not be blatantly obvious but it will be there.
