Re: Huxley Gamespeed Too Fast?
I agree that partly it is up to how you choose to play the game. But the major part is how the game is implemented.
If you implement jumping to boost your speed with no effect on your aim, its more beneficial to jump 24/7 because you will be a harder target to hit.
If you implement jumping so it doesnt boost your speed and that it has a negative effect on your aiming together with that your stuck trying to get your balance back for 1-2 sec after landing. The benefit of jumping is gone.
What does it matter might you ask yourself? Well.. for me it adds realism, and it makes things "look better". Have you ever watched a cool science fiction action movie where people jumping around like frogs?
And if you added recoil to your weapons, that your aim is worse while moving, you being shot triggers you to move and thus your aim gets worse, your aim gets better while standing still. All this adds even more to the realism of the game. And dont think it will just be slow and boring, it takes nerves to run into an enemy, stop moving, stand still for 2 sec while your aim stabilises when your enemy is going full auto with his gun at his hip, you make 2 short burst to his body and he goes down. You turn around to see bullet holes all over the wall behind you.
Add to this slow reload speed, slow change of weapon, limit to the number of weapons you can carry (and ammo), etc..
Well.. we'll see, I guess most of us have different opinions on how the game should be and as the game is in beta testing, a lot of this is already set. I've been looking forward to this kind of game for some time now (got bored at WoW), I just hope I will not be dissapointed.
