I agree with you, I just recently played BF and constantly got owned by a tank who was sitting outside the base. No chance for running away. I call that spawn killing.

But then again, I don't know how the spawning system will work. People will probably say that you should get your teammates to get rid of the tank.
If stationary Weapons are available, then I think nothing speaks against deploying some of them in your spawn point.
