I hated Gears if War, personally. The Orange box has Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2 Episode 1, and Half-Life 2 Episode 2, which are all great single player games. I can't say much about Lost Planet, what I did play was pretty fun. R6 Vegas's single player mode I liked a lot, it's pretty tactical though, if you don't like that.
