Default Re: Comp Build, Help!

Everything looks pretty good (I wanted to cry when I saw the prices for the exact same parts I bought at Christmas going for like half the cost, like the RAM for instance). Also make sure you check

Newegg.com - Buy Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more!

and

ZipZoomFly

As I usually find even cheaper prices at either of those then Tiger Direct. Now since your investing in an 8800 GTX, definetly see what you can do to invest in some new cooling. And if budget can handle it, see if you can replace the stock fan that comes with your CPU, as they are pretty much junk.

I was concerned about your power supply, until I noticed you decided not to go with an SLI board. Still, I would consider raising the bar on the power supply, as it shouldn't cost a whole lot more for some extra wattage (there are other factors to consider, I would way in on them but I have to go to work lol). As far as guides to PC building, since your new, the Motherboard handbook you get when you purchase the Motherboard will be your best friend of all time. Read that thing as if it were your religion. If the handbook is made correctly, you shouldn't have too many issues to worry about (I don't have any experience with XFX motherboards, although I do know EVGA's 680i board you were considering is pretty decent, along with any ASUS board you will probably eventually look at someday). I am not aware of any guide to build pc's, but I'm sure a google search can fix that pretty quick (again I have to go to work so hard for me to do it ).

The price for the OP is actually not bad at all, considering its an OEM (just make sure it comes with the cd key's as many OEM's DO NOT come with a cd key as they are intended on being installed on a computer that already has a cd key purchased).

DVD drive, take a look into a Samsung lightscribe burner combo, they work really well and have tons of toy's...and its cheap.

I'll go into more detail when I get home from work, but thats my decent 2 cents for the time being.
