Default Re: Huxley Gold Farming

you might consider a gold farmer not necessarily someone who uses a bot to farm for them. But also someone who finds a certain item that sells well and then exploits the market by farming only that item, buying out anyone else who sells that item and then jacking up the price since they're now going to be the main person who sells that certain item.

Or simply someone who sits there and farms alllll day long so money is no object to them and therefore they can buy stuff at high prices which drives up prices for everyone else (including those who don't have time to farm for 10 hours a day)

I'm all up for rewarding those who put time into their character. But when certain items become WAY over priced while other items fall to almost nothing. That can really mess up the economy, making certain people gain money really easily and making others who picked the unlucky proffession have a hard time making any money. The money gap gets bigger and bigger and it can lead to a gap in gear etc.

Example: Theres an item, we'll call it "Light Exiled Ember Talon" This item is very good for certain people but it is a very rare drop and is hard to find.

Someone comes along and is lucky enough to find this item "L.E.E.T" and decides he wants to sell it to make some money. Normally he would ask a price of around $400 which would be a decent amount of money for him. But someone strolls along and says "I'll give you $1000 if you give it to me right now!!!!"

So obviously the lucky player sells his LEET for $1000 dollars and goes happily on his way. Well word spreads that you can sell a LEET for $1000 dollars so now anyone who wants one is either going to have to scratch their eyes out for a small chance at getting one, or take the time to save up $1000.

Soon anyone that manages to sell their LEET for $1000 has lots of extra money because nothing else in the market is really all that expensive. So these "rich" players go and spend their money on upgrades and don't even bother to try and argue for lower prices. So then crafters and everyone else start charging higher prices because they now there are people out there willing to pay.

However those who haven't gotten a LEET to sell, and would rather spend their time in epic PvP battles, are left behind because they're stuck in the time where $400 was a lot of money.

To conclude!!!! Gold farmers lead to higher prices which isn't fun for anyone. I'm sure you all already knew that but I thought I'd give a little example for my own amusment.
