Default Buying A Gaming Notebook: Advice Wanted.

So I have decided to drop a chunk of cash into a gaming notebook. Looking to spend around 2-3k.

Now I am not as familiar with the options for notebook gaming as much as I know PC gaming rigs. Really interested in getting the most bang for my buck. Skeptical about the whole DX10 thing, as I believe that you pay a huge premium for the latest and greatest and the price drops by 40% a month after release. Don't love Dell simply because they offer the same product on their site, call the second product special edition and give it a red case, then charge you an extra $300. That bothers me. Alienware is fine as long as they dont try to give me transparent cases and glowy wires.

Trying to figure out if a Gforce 7950 would be better than a GForce 8600-8700 since traditionally the Gforce X800+ cards were the gaming cards. My favorite 8800 does not appear to be available for notebooks. Then there is the question of do I need to go Vista. I don't know what benefits a Vista OS has for running Huxley and I know what the downsides are from my current PC which has it.

My faves so far in bang for the buck are

Advice and comments appreciated.
