Like I said lol, it's a pretty old game, but none the less an MMOFPS I think. maybe I'll look into it and see if there's actually any scouting and waiting for ambushes etc.
And about patrolling, I like the idea too, and actually most people do, but you're right, not many people want to sit there for too long.
I think it would be cool if they had quests that sent a group of enemies scouting to the same area, so they'd for sure run into each other.
kind of like:
team 1 gets a mission to go scout vector 6 and stay there for 5 minutes
team 2 gets a mission and also has to scout vector 6 and has to get there within 5 minutes and kill any enemies.
This way the 2 teams would be forced to meet if they wanted to complete the mission and if something happened that meant 1 team didn't make it, the others could still get exp. for taking the time to scout the area (maybe not as much though).
The scouting zones could either be important zones on battlefields so they actually change a games outcome or just random areas around the Huxley world to make for some good squad vs squad fighting or something.
I really hope they have something like that. I'm sure they could find a way to make it work, even if my idea seems a bit off, i'm sure they could figure it out.
