As for scouting and sitting with your clan until you're needed, I think that's honestly going to be all up to the players. I'm guessing there will be plenty of different battles going on at all times and lots of action everywhere. You could take the time to send scouts into each battle and see which needs help the most, and then when the time comes, send in the rest of your clan.
Or if you see an enemy has taken over a certain point, you can take your clan out of the main fighting, and take the time to set up a good defense at the next base.
I'm sure we've all thought of what the perfect game could be and how we all want it to be like real war, with scouting and suprise attacks followed by counter attacks and all that. But when it comes down to it, it's really up to the players.
