Well for me SMGs, Machine Guns and Assault Rifles are 3 different category.
SMGs are weak but shoot fast, something like machine gun with pistol bullets.
Assault Rifles are weapons that deal good damage but aint very easy to aim with and dont have many bullets in the clip.
Machine Gun is bigger version of SMG with bigger bullets.

For me those are different categories, if it will be like that which i have no doubts that it will. Then we are missing only one, which could be a knife or something like that. You say the maps will be to huge for knifes? Well maps size depends on the amount of players so that they wont be too big which means it would be something like in BF series. Maps are big there but there are posssibilities for knifing.
IF it will be like that then "Circle is Closed".
