Keep in mind that no operating system is complete on release. WinXP were in no way a bug-free OS when it came out. These things take time, and don't forget that it's also up to the developers to write stable drivers to their hardware, it's not all up to Microsoft to make Vista as good as it can be.

The same goes with games, it's most likely not a finished product once it's released, but patches/updates makes the game better as time goes by.

My two cents.
