Yea, I just didn't really think about it at first.
When I saw Deathmatch, the first thing that poped into my head was a picture of 200 people randomly spinning around in circles spraying bullets everywhere as they jump around like crazies. All for no apparent reason, since they would be killing their own faction amidst the chaos

I get it now though. And it would be fun to be able to challenge rival squads from your own faction to see who was best. Or who gets to be squad leader or something
