That's strange, most people find UT2k4 to be too fast and difficult to kill in =P, that's why they're ("dumbing it down" or "toning it down" depending on who you ask) for 2k7; to help the learning curve. It's usually Quake or Ex-Quake players that find UT too slow.
But as someone who has played in 3 different gametypes competitively (1v1, team deathmatch and capture the flag) I can tell you that every single one has depth in its own way. 1 team randomly running around just shooting at whatever they see will absolutely get stomped at any gametype. If you don't think there's tactical play involved just because it's fast-paced, you haven't played it in an organized manner while communicating with teammates. Most games are unorganized and random in pubs, that's why they're pubs

.
My point is that if Huxley were as fast as the fastest DM game (Idunno if that'd be Quakeworld or CPMA or what, but really its immaterial), you'd STILL have plenty of teamwork involved. There's always tactics in player vs player videogames, just because of the very nature that it's 1 person trying to gain any advantage within a set of rules vs another person.
