The whole premise of sci-fi DM style games is specifically NOT to mimic real life. Personally I don't like being tied down with slow movement schemes that are actually LESS than what I can do myself. I'd rather do things that I will never be able to do physically. Ubisoft isn't going to stop making games ;\ so there'll always be slower "tactical (mindblowingly bad use of the term but people seem to like it)" titles available.
I just spent 6 hours running a 1v1 UT2k4 tourney last night, I would consider myself fairly qualified to speak about the dynamics of the game's combat =X. I'm doing them every Sunday night at 8pm EST in #2k4tdm on irc.enterthegame.com btw. We have 2 UTV servers to spectate through and trying to line up shoutcasting starting this next week. So if anyone would like to see some games of cat and mouse, there'll be plenty each week. You need ut2k4 installed/patched to watch UTV though. Hard to get video streams online with $0 budget ;\

I would but UT kinda bores me....i need more speed! and harder to hit targets although i'm not good at UT although i havn't played that much of it at all...less then 50 hours total.
