You guys have to remember that (this may have been mentioned before), Planetside continents were actually big instances.
It was just the clever warfare design that kept the combat focused on very specific areas, which is why the game was fun. Having huge battles on large maps while keeping the combat focused in small areas is what made the battles feel so large scale and huge. You had huge combats for each base and slowly wiped the opposition off the map(literally).
In BF2 it's possible to go behind enemy lines and capture "bases". This thins out the battles, but it's necessary in a non-mmo game. In Planetside it's set up like a web, you only have to protect 1-3 bases at once, and there were always enough players to have large scale battles at each base. If you lost all your bases, well there were always the other continents

I'm just saying that if Huxley pulls this off correctly, then the number of players won't matter, the battles will always feel intense and fun. If the cap is 240, fine, shrink the map slightly, shouldn't matter too much.
Planetside warfare+New Huxley Innovations=fun time!
(All of this is based on my old Planetside experiences, I'm sure many things have changed since then, please feel free to correct me)
