I used to work for an American investments company and they had a trillion dollars woth fo assets (IE not their money but the money they were managing) so there is a lot more than 1 trillion dollars in the world, although if all those people realised the investments on the same day it would collapse the economy of the US (although it wouldnt actually be possible to do it).
