I think you might be getting the gameplay mixed up with planetside. UT gameplay is always fast. You aren't going to be sitting around doing nothing for 5 minutes waiting for a vehicle to show up and repair yours. Huxley has been spouting that they're fast twitch-based fighting with the UT style, not a slow and restrictive game like PS. There might be things you can salvage out of a vehicle but i'm guessing it'd be pulling ammo or ripping out the computer for salvage perhaps.
If a tank gets blown up, they shove it off the road to make way, they don't bring in a repair team in the middle of an assault to try and salvage the weapons.
